FILM | Series returns to capital city for 32nd year

For eight weeks each year, the Springfield Art Association plays host to eight critically acclaimed films from around the world. The series was created by Molly Schlich, a local resident who was passionate about international films and devoted to bringing entertaining, thought-provoking films to the city. Before the series begins with regular screenings at AMC Classic Springfield 12, the SAA is hosting a preview party Wednesday at its main campus at Edwards Place. Trailers from all eight films will be shown plus the screening of Interaction Cowboy by Springfield native Fred Koschmann. Koschmann's documentary – a "dad doc" – focuses on a world-traveling academic whose family can't say what he does for work. The preview party is free but will have limited seating of about 100 seats. Get there early! Meanwhile, the film series will run from Jan. 14 to March 5 and will be shown at 1 and 4 p.m. Sundays and 7 p.m. Tuesdays at AMC Classic Springfield 12, Mercantile Drive. Individual film tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students with ID. A series pass is $60. Visit springfieldart.org for more information about the films and information on ticket purchases. Proceeds from the series benefit the SAA's Michael Victor II Art Library.
