Juke HouseFive longtime, local musicians by the names of Brian Moore (lead vocals, sax), Tim Bahn (piano, vocals), Mark Sanders (drums), Mike Lang (bass) and Manley Mallard (guitar) got together after Brian and Mike had a late-night discussion about their love of jump blues and invited others to join in the fun. The term refers to fast-paced, bouncy blues that preceded rock ‘n’ roll in the 40s, made popular by Big Joe Turner, Louis Prima and others, then experienced a revival in the 90s through artists such as Joe Jackson and Brian Setzer. Recently the band got together at Tim’s studio and created their A Juke House Christmas CD, with several jump blues holiday numbers including “Cool Yule” and “Boogie Woogie Santa Claus.” The disc is for sale during band gigs and at the Rock Shop, plus it is available online at CD Baby, iTunes and other digital download spots. Hear the tunes performed live this weekend at Lime Street Cafe. Also check out Juke House at First Night Springfield, 9:30 p.m., on New Year’s Eve, at the public Lincoln Library.
