Enjoy holiday cheer on Saturday, Dec. 8, during the 47th annual Springfield Jaycees Holiday Lights Parade. This festive downtown parade celebrates the start of the holiday season and is a time-honored tradition that began in 1949 and has been held annually since 1972. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Horace Mann parking lot and will loop around the Old State Capitol to Monroe Street along Fifth and Sixth streets. Since this parade occurs after dark, all parade entries are decked with holiday lights and the festivities conclude with a visit from a special North Pole guest, Mr. Santa Claus himself.
