An Evening with Annette Gordon-Reed

Honor Juneteenth with ANNETTE GORDON-REED, a MacArthur Genius and the first Black person to win the Pulitzer Prize for History. Her book, On Juneteenth, is a powerful, essential work that weaves together America’s past with personal memoir. She first rose to prominence when she pushed for Black people’s versions of history to be taken seriously—no matter how inconvenient. Today, she draws on her book to show how we can learn from the past and keep striving for progress together.
This event is a collaboration between Springfield’s 30th Annual Juneteenth Celebration, the UIS Center for Lincoln Studies, and the ALPLM.
