The Springfield Mass Transit District unveiled a new website design earlier this week, making the site more accessible and adding new capabilities. The new design allows users to view routes on an interactive map which shows the arrival time for the next bus at a given stop. The site is also now more friendly to smartphones and tablets with features that scale themselves depending on screen resolution. “We know that a majority of the traffic on our website comes from mobile devices, and today’s consumers are increasingly relying on mobile devices every day,” said Steve Schoeffel, SMTD’s service planning and marketing specialist. “Our IT staff put many hours of hard work into this upgrade, and the public should be pleased with the results.” SMTD hopes the redesign will not only help riders navigate the bus system but also convince new riders to give it a shot. It’s a big step forward in simplicity and usefulness. Check out the new design at www.smtd.org.
