It may be too soon, but if things get any crazier in Washington it will be time for level-headed conservatives to start thinking about forming a new political movement, like their ancestors did 170 years ago. Back then the Republican Party was formed by anti-slavery activists; now, what to be against is less clear – oligarchical right-wing populism maybe – but its outlines are sharpening daily. A new movement could begin to form around what it’s for. It could be pro-business and free trade, pro-fiscal responsibility, pro-First Amendment, pro-Second Amendment sanity, pro-school safety, pro-legal immigration and pro-environment. Conservatives know America never got great by acting like a jerk.. –Fletcher Farrar, editor
