Free tickets to the dedication of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum will be available to the public next week at the Prairie Capital Convention Center box office.

Tickets are required to attend a concert by the 312 Army Band at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, and the dedication ceremony at 11 a.m.

The tickets will be available 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, April 11-13. The box office is located in the main lobby of the convention center. Bring a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license. There is a limit of two tickets per person.

The dedication ceremony is expected to bring a number of dignitaries to Springfield, and security measures will be in place. Backpacks and luggage are prohibited, bags will be subject to searches, and metal detectors will be used.

No parking will be available near the museum on dedication day, but free shuttle buses will run from the Illinois State Fairgrounds to the museum 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

The presidential museum will be open to the public 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17. Regular admission fees will be charged. The cost is $7.50 for adults, $3.50 for children between the ages of 5 and 15, and $5.50 for senior citizens, students, and members of the armed forces. Admission is free for children ages 4 and younger.

The dedication caps four days of celebration beginning Saturday, April 16, with a block party in downtown Springfield.

Additional details will be available in next week’s Illinois Times, or at the Web site of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum at www.alincoln-library.com. The museum is located at 212 N. Sixth St.
