The Oohs

The Oohs

From the extraordinary and challenging cover song choices to the brilliant, self-penned power pop pieces, no other rock band in Springfield has ever come close to achieving the sonic reality of the Oohs. Founding members Brian Curtis (keyboards, vocals) and Frank Huston (guitars, vocals) with longtime member Brian Cutright (bass, vocals), plus current drummer Tom Summerlin, along with a slew from the who’s who of local drummers, including Michael “Big Mike” Wallace, Scott Mundstock, Jim Engel, Mike Laible, Steve Kelton and the nefarious, He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named (most doing vocals to give the band four-part, out-of-this-world harmonies) have wowed central Illinois audiences with extreme musicianship and quality sound since 1997. Now with member moves and familial obligations happening, the band disbands with a beautiful bang. Plans include many reunions down the road, but this promises to be the final “farewell show” for sure. Thanks to all of the Oohs for so many wonderful years of delightful and significant music. The “Band Interests” section on the group’s Facebook page says it all with, “Love, Laughter & Harmony.”
