Of all the Celtic-influenced bands now in the Springfield area, The Emerald Underground was the first on the scene way back in 2002. Then called Stone Ring Circle, the group debuted 14 years ago at Marly’s Pub during the St. Pat’s Day Marching Band Parade. This Saturday’s performance continues the tradition at the same club, just as the band continues to evolve with different members. With the departure of longtime wind player Theresa O’Hare and relative newcomer Tom Irwin comes the return of original member Jack White joining with Nat Radwine, Bill McKenzie, Lori McKenzie, Chas Blythe and Megan Turner in forming the latest version of the longest running Celtic-fusion band in town. They are also the busiest band “Irish-ing it” during the “High Holy Days” with three shows at Lime Street Cafe, one at Marly’s, a private party and a top-it-off gig at Robbie’s next Friday, March 20. Expect to enjoy many of those pure TEU classics along with several new tunes set to keep the music fresh and fun.
