A frequent visitor to Springfield since her appearance at The Alley in the early days of the Sangamon Valley Roots Revival, Rosie Flores never makes it back soon enough. The “Rockabilly Filly” is making a quick trip this week up from Austin, Texas, through Tennessee, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Mich., Indianapolis and Virginia – Illinois, that is. With a streamlined setup of Rosie on guitar and vocals, using only bass and drums as accompaniment, she shines as never before in her 40 some years, and counting, of being the girl with the guitar. From opening for Creedence Clearwater Revival as a young girl to recently presenting a Janis Martin tribute at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Rosie makes music through thick and thin. Currently on Chicago’s Bloodshot Records, she’s worked with many of the most prestigious independent labels in the business, including Rounder and High Tone, plus a stint with the big boys on Warner Bros. Records. Her music is timeless and tasteful, intimate and immediate, powerful and unpretentious, always honest and always on.
