The Six-String Princess of Texas (Aug. 31, 2006, was Rosie Flores Day in Austin) and Ms. Mighty Music Maker herself made a sparkling Springfield appearance. She was sighted playing a remote corner of the Illinois State Fair last year and now she’s back for a Bedrock 66 Live! show with Bloodshot Records compatriot Jon Langford. Rosie’s latest record, Girl of the Century, uses Langford’s Chicago music collective, the Pine Valley Cosmonauts, as a backing group and their freewheeling style suits her very well. However good all her records have been or will be, the best way to experience a Rosie moment is live and in person. This performance is a very special concert not to be missed, with the showing by the contentious and riotous Langford an event of its own. Both artists plan to attend the Independent Record Store Day celebration at Recycled Records on Saturday afternoon.
