Folks around these parts sure like these Texas-groove band dudes who met while singing songs as they floated down the Guadalupe River some years ago. The mysterious “Midnight River Choir” heard on the water soon became a combo, and they’ve been riding a rushing current of growing popularity ever since. Bandmates Eric Middleton (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Justin Nelson (lead guitar, harmony vocals), Mitchell Pyeatt (drums, harmony vocals, didgeridoo) and Bob Driver III (bass, harmony vocals) are finishing up a Midwest run through Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nebraska before heading back home to New Braunfels, near Austin, Texas, and gigs galore in the Lone Star State. Our good friends at DFV are honoring MRC by releasing a Seyval Blanc wine inspired by one of the band’s songs called “Light of the Moon.” Pay attention, as a group known as the Red Beard Brigade has partnered with DFV to bring “Red Dirt” Texas groove-style bands to the New Berlin winery in a First Friday Series through the summer and into fall.
