Yes, Virginia, there really is a band that wears ski masks, where each musician dons one of a specific color and they designate themselves as color-coded by instrument and vocal job. Hence, per the Masked Intruder Facebook page in the “About” section: “Blue - sings and plays guitar, Green - plays guitar and sings backup, Yellow (aka orange) - plays bass and sings backup and Red - plays drums,” and that’s how that works. This Madison, Wisconsin-based quartet really rocks the house and plans to release Masked Intruder III on March 1, not coincidentally, the group’s third recording. The songs are punk pop and fun, tongue-in-cheek (or maybe not?) with titles such No Case and I’m Free (At Last), along with a previous album entitled Love and Other Crimes. Everybody needs a schtick, plus it’s a lot easier to take off a ski mask after a show than a bunch of makeup. Included in this performance piece is the long-awaited (over 21 years) celebration of the Timmys, coincidently turning 21 years old as a band.
