Lindsay Baker, a former child beauty queen and inventor of incredibly adventurous and artistic videos with songs attached, is Guts Club, all by her lonesome. For a look into the life and times of this gifted and gallant singer and songwriter, check out the YouTube video of “Marine Biologist” from The Arm Wrestling Tournament, recorded and engineered by Tyler Wood of Oh My Goodness in The Catskills and released in Feb. 2015. The stark beauty of the lyrics and arrangement eerily and jauntily meeting with the cartoon and reality coexisting in the video may not let you understand it, but you will get it. Paste Magazine says nice things about the record and that’s a nice thing. Lindsay recently relocated from Brooklyn to New Orleans giving her, for the first time, easy access to the Midwest, hence her appearance in Springfield. From here she heads west for several more gigs along with a “check in on Gramma” and a visit to Roswell “not to play a show, just to see the aliens.” The gut feeling is good here.
