Fireside RelicsWith the release of Shot Out the Saddle, the second, full-length recording of original material from Fireside Relics, the band looks to “establish themselves as heavy hitters” within the Springfield music scene. The local group came together in 2009 to play covers of 70s hard rock, 90s grunge and contemporary rock-pop and soon discovered a propensity for penning songs combining all these elements into a unique fusion of modern music. Bandmates Kristi Lecocq (vocals), Nick Park (vocals, guitar), Aaron Davis (lead guitar), Jonathon Harvel (bass, vocals), Dave Helm (vocals) and Edward J Williamson (drums) along with Carl Becker (keyboardist on the CD who no longer performs with the band) made the record as “equal part guts and smarts, complex without being overdone.” Recorded near Champaign at the very cool Earth Analog Studio, owned and operated by Matt Talbot (from the band Hum), by all accounts, the album completely succeeded in the goals set by the band. They did all the hard work, so all you need to do is get to the show, buy a CD and listen to it.
