Son of the legendary accordion player and Zydeco master Rockin’ Dopsie Sr., Dwayne “Dopsie” Rubin comes by his heritage honestly. He knows how to make a party happen whether on his European tours, his many visits to Springfield for the Meatsmack Mardi Gras Party or kickin’ it up at home on his Louisiana turf. Well-known for his appreciation of the traditions of roots music, this gifted singer-songwriter and award-winning accordionist also infuses blues, funk, rock, pop and reggae into “his own high energy style that defies existing stereotypes and blazes a refreshingly distinct path for 21st century Zydeco music.” A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, as are several of his band members, including washboard virtuoso, Paul Lafleur, Dwayne and the Zydeco Hellraisers are ranked number 29 on a list of “100 Reasons to Visit Louisiana.” The guys are just finishing up studio album number six called Dopsie’s Got It. Summer travel plans include a visit to the famed New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, then a jump across the Atlantic Ocean for the band’s seventh European tour.
