Coldshot

Direct from the metro-east St. Louis area, Coldshot makes its Springfield debut playing for the Goulden Motorsports Fundraiser, a private party open to the public. Not one to mess around with subtle songs and obscure artists, the band consists of well-seasoned players Jeff Shanks (drums), Rod Whittom (lead vocals), Bill Boyd (guitar, keyboards), Brian Schifferdecker (bass) and Kevin Heise (guitar) who revel in doing the glam classics of Def Leppard, Poison and Bon Jovi without apology. “It just puts people in the festive & partying mood,” says Heise, of Belleville. “It’s like a mini-vacation for a few hours.” The group, a popular fixture at rock joints in Belleville, Collinsville, Sauget and Germantown, are scheduled to hit the central Illinois festival circuit next summer with shows at the Pawnee Prairie Days, Franklin Burgoo and Mt. Auburn Picnic. Not just another pretty cover band, Coldshot recently self-produced a CD of original music called My Addiction and released a single “It’s Never Easy” to local radio stations around St. Louis.
