The Fat Ass 5K is not your grandfather’s 5K. The 3.1-mile race route includes beer, ice cream, coffee, donut and corn dog stations plus live entertainment and surprises throughout. This year’s music lineup features Captain Geech and The Shrimp Shack Shooters, The Shenanigans, After Sunset and Ragged Company. The ninth annual street party begins immediately following the 10 a.m. race and runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The street party includes a pig roast with all the fixin’s, cold beer and Pepsi, live music and good fun. To date, the Fat Ass 5K organization has donated more than $680,000 to charity since 2008. This year’s goal is to make it to the $1 million mark.
