Herb lovers and enthusiasts can rejoice in the smell of fresh herbs at The Illinois Herb Association 2013 HerbFest. The fest will take place on Saturday, June 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. at Washington Park Botanical Garden in Springfield. The event will feature sessions hosted by a variety of speakers and will include topics such as “Many Uses of Lavender,” “Growing and Using Elderberry,”(Elderberry is the 2013 Herb of the Year), and “Herbs of the Bible.”  The event is open to anyone wishing to learn more about growing or using herbs. Registration is $40 for Illinois Herb Association members and $45 for nonmembers. Pre-registration is closed, but on-site registration will take place from 8:30-9 a.m. the day of the event but does not guarantee lunch.
