We put off getting a TV till long after
everyone else had one. We wanted
our kids to be more readers than
viewers. Then came Kennedy’s
assassination and there was nothing
but three days of news on the TV.
We got one. By then it was December,
and the first thing we watched as a family
was “The Wizard of Oz.” My second small
daughter was so petrified by the flying
monkeys that we got rid of the new TV!
