One of Springfield’s most popular annual events, the Molly Schlich Springfield Art Association Film Series, begins Jan. 16 and 18 and runs through April. Seven independent, international films cover the big screen each month at the Parkway Pointe Cinema. The Secret In Their Eyes, last year’s Academy Award winner for best foreign language film (Argentina), begins the lineup. It is an engrossing drama about a retired detective who, under the guise of writing a book, revisits an old case that continues to haunt him. Other films include: Last Train Home (Canada/China), a documentary; Mademoiselle Chambon (France) triangle love affair; Undertow (Peru) story of a fisherman with captivating scenery; Mother and Child (USA), stellar cast and motherhood; Made in Dagenham (UK), Ford Motor Plant strike; My Dog Tulip (USA), animated film. Passes are available at the box office or from the SAA.
