Redlining, a practice of denying services or access to certain neighborhoods based on race, has become a "narrative crutch" that obscures a much longer history of housing discrimination. It didn't create systemic racism in American housing patterns but sanctioned it, and vulnerable communities still feel the impacts of this profitable disinvestment in vast and far-reaching ways. The director of education and outreach for New American History, Annie Evans, will lead a session focusing on new maps and resources added to "mapping inequality" and other related digital humanities projects designed to help seek solutions in the modern era. 217-206-8663
