This year we give thanks for mustachioed men with ornery temperaments and hearts of gold.
Upon approaching this unusual species in his natural habitat, an ordinary person could very easily be expected to pay little attention to such an immediately unassuming individual.
However … if that same someone was to endeavor beyond the surface, just past the Skechers orthotics, and the irrational love for Miracle Whip; what they will encounter is truly a treasure and far too rare in society today.
Behind the whiskers, we find the wealthiest of men. We find a man endowed with integrity, wisdom, humility, love and humor. We are gifted with tales of neglected valor, of sacrifice and of a world most will never experience.
Although illusive, these bristly-faced jewels of humanity can be easily lured from out of hiding by the sound of a dinner bell, although they are not particularly fond of green vegetables. Be steadfastly vigilant in your hunt, and when victory is finally yours, bribe this beautiful soul with chocolate, cookies and any other baked goods within arms reach.
He may reward you with everything my father gave me!
