Barb’s parents were Fred and Doris Brown. In 1966 they allowed me to marry their daughter. This began a wonderful loving 58-year marriage. During those years the two of us grew up together. The first four years we were apart due to the military, the last 54 together every night.
Barb had a love of books, and in 1990 she purchased Shadid’s Book Store. Education was important and she received her degree from Sangamon State University in 1990. Always wanting to be published, she took classes on writing. She was published a few years ago. She loved to crochet and sew and she made afghans for the family. For a few years she donated afghans to the baby wards at the local hospitals.
Barb’s life revolved around our son, Mike, and our grandchildren, Kelci and Kolby. She loved the time spent teaching, playing and taking care of them.
Barb was a quiet person that kept much to herself and she did not gossip or speak negative comments of others. She had a strong faith in God. She was so proud of her family and they meant everything to her. She will be missed.
