In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Volunteer Services Department at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, our staff humbly offers a collective remembrance to memorialize the 191 volunteers who have passed over the last two decades. These dedicated individuals faithfully served our institution and the Springfield community by sharing the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln with our visitors from around the world.
Our community is ever indebted to these fine people who served as ambassadors of Springfield and central Illinois. Their daily interactions with our guests and detailed work and research in our library highlighted our state’s rich history and the many historic and unique people and places in our city and throughout Illinois. We understand and recognize that much of the success of the ALPLM is due to the high standards and quality work of our knowledgeable volunteer team.
Our agency stands on the shoulders of the volunteers who have served and continue to serve us. We are eternally grateful for their generous donation of their time and talents and offer our sincerest condolences to the families and friends of these committed volunteers as we honor their memories.
We love and miss you all.
-Jeremy Carrell, ALPLM Director of Volunteer Services
