When it’s an Indian summer festival, silly. Setting the standard for the fall
festival industry, the Lincoln Memorial Garden and Nature Center holds its Indian
Summer Festival October 11 and 12.
Located on East Lake Drive, the picturesque park was designed by the legendary landscape architect Jens Jensen many moons ago, and it’s still a delight for tourists and locals alike. As you wander the nature trails, observing the crafters and food hawkers, be sure to read to A. Lincoln quotes carved on the benches throughout the park.
There’ll also be music in the air with bluegrass bands McGee Creek and Flintlock on Saturday and slide guitarist Kraig Kenning and Celtic-rock group Stone Ring Circle on Sunday. The kids, plus all you youngsters at heart, can giggle and goggle at the clowns and magicians strolling around the gardens.
Now remember, we’re in October, so just imagine the crisp fall air, the crackling of leaves underfoot, and no rain, only warm sunshine to make for a fine Indian summer outing.
Lincoln Memorial Garden opens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and
Sunday, October 11 and 12. Admission is $3 a person, $8 for the whole family.
