This is week in my print column I dusted off a column from my old Prejudices series that recalls the demolition in 1978 of the Hotel Abraham Lincoln. I was pleased therefore  to learn that a series of still photos depicting that very event will be part of a new exhibition of more than 40 photographs of Springfield’s historic buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The show, titled “Shifting Sands: Springfield’s Architectural Legacy,” is the result of a collaboration between the Springfield Art Association and the Sangamon Valley Collection of the Lincoln Library, and it will stand at Edwards Place, 700 N. Fourth St., through Jan. 27. Admission is free. For more info, email collections@springfieldart.org.
