Last October ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition came as close as Peoria. This year, Ty Pennington and his tool belt-clad crew have set their sights on Springfield.
The celebrity builders want to construct a brand-new home for a capital city
family that’s been a pillar of support for the community. They’ve inspired others through acts of goodwill, while at the same time, forgoing
their own need to live in a safe environment.
Sound like anyone you know? Interested families or anyone who wants to nominate
a deserving family can e-mail the following information to
castingillinois@gmail.com:
• Names and ages of each member of the household,
• A description of the home’s major
challenges,
• A description of why the family has
been a positive force in the community,
• Photos of the family and of the home,
and a contact phone number for the
family.
The family must own their own home and be able to show the need for an extreme
makeover. The show’s producers have been looking for a family since late March, says associate
producer Jada Bates, but have been unsuccessful. They’ve extended the submission deadline to May 22.
“We haven’t gotten as good of a response as we’d like,” Bates said. “So we wanted to make sure we looked everywhere and found the best family.”
