How refreshing it is to hear Illinois Republicans fighting with Illinois Democrats over how much money should go to Chicago Public Schools. What a breath of fresh air to hear arguments over what should be included in the Department of Corrections appropriation, or how transportation projects can be funded to keep construction alive. This is what Illinois was like ages ago, before Rauner, before Turnaround. If this kind of politics keeps up, soon the governor and lawmakers will be fighting over the size and shape of the tax increase needed to pay for it all. That would bring back the Illinois politics we know and love. –Fletcher Farrar, editor and publisher
