Central Counties Health Centers in Springfield has long provided invaluable health care to many people who otherwise couldn’t afford it. Now, CCHC is getting some recognition – in the form of a $100,000 check. The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation announced on July 14 that CCHC won the Foundation’s third annual Wisdom Tooth Award, which honors groups that significantly improve the oral health of Illinois children. CCHC beat out 17 other applicants for the award and its accompanying $100,000 prize. The money will go toward providing additional dental care for at-risk children. “Central Counties Health Centers has made a significant impact in the overall health of countless Illinois children,” said Bernie Glossy, president of the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation board of directors and CEO of Delta Dental of Illinois. “We are proud to support its good work and assist in its efforts to provide oral health care to Illinois children.” CCHC is a federally qualified health center which provides health care and dental care with a sliding scale for payment based on income and free health care for homeless people in Springfield.
