It was great to hear Gov. JB Pritzker stand up to President Donald Trump and his plans to send National Guard troops into Chicago, supposedly to fight crime. “What President Trump is doing is unprecedented and unwarranted,” Pritzker railed. “It is illegal. It is unconstitutional. It is un-American.” It’s rare and welcome to hear our guy give that bully the what-for. “This is not about crime. This is about Donald Trump searching for any justification to deploy the military in a blue city, in a blue state, to try and intimidate his political rivals.” One thing better the Illinois governor could do is to make a similar speech in Springfield, to describe how all of Illinois, not just Chicago, would be diminished by autocratic overreach. And if push comes to shove, if Chicago is occupied by federal troops, it would be good for Springfield to organize a rally in support of our big sister city to the north. – Fletcher Farrar, editor

Really? Quite the Opposite! AS a Conservative Mexican Latina I say Bring on the Trumps Mr. President!

This past weekend, there were 58 shootings in Chicago, resulting in eight deaths. Clearly , Chicago is a safe place-the shooters have poor aim!
It is unwise to send in federal or NG troops unless there are riots lasting more than 24 hours and local officials can not contain it.
I full support deportation of illegal aliens. ICE should do that. Local and state officials should not in any way impede them. But sending in troops has some potential implications that President Trump should consider- and they are not good no matter hwo you feel about thhis issue.
