Sangamon CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) has announced a recruitment event for its 2015-2016 class. The Sangamon CEO program, a collaboration between businesses and school districts in Sangamon County, is a year-long, accredited high school class which connects high school students to local business leaders and allows them to “experience the challenges and rewards of running a business.” Students from seven different high schools in Sangamon County make up the current class, which meets with local business owners, who share their knowledge and experience. Students then utilize what they learn to create an actual business with real money, including branding and logos along with business and marketing plans, which they present to bankers and then exhibit in a trade show at the end of the school year. Current CEO students and alumni will be on hand at the event to share their stories and answer questions. The event will take place on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at Brookens Auditorium on the UIS campus. It is open to all Sangamon County juniors in high school and their parents. No R.S.V.P. is necessary.
