Rolling in from the Great White North, to tour through the U.S. Midwest, The Strumbellas hail from Lindsay, Ontario (that’s in Canada, folks), bringing a brand new album, We Still Move on Dance Floors, along with them. The Juno-nominated (a Canadian music award for their debut CD, My Father And The Hunter), six-piece band meshes many sounds together in wonderful ways, causing critics to invent new genres to describe sounds created by this incredibly original and talented group. They’ve used terms like gothic folk, indie-pop-grass and Canadian-Americana to attempt to categorize and define the type-defying music by Simon Ward (guitar, vocals), David Ritter (piano, vocals, percussion), Izzy Ritchie (violin, viola, vocals), Darryl James (bass), Jon Hembrey (electric guitar) and Jeremy Drury (drums). Also on the bill are Alex and the XO’s (indie pop from Bloomington-Normal), plus local bands Lovecow and The Phoenix Sons.
