So you’ve never heard of a band called The Boxmasters? How about an actor known as Billy Bob Thornton? Ah, there we go. He’s in the band as singer and shaker, making the group an accessible entity to thousands of folks across the country. Teddy Andreadis, J.D. Andrew and Brad Davis, along with the aforementioned Billy Bob “Bud” Thornton make up the band, together since 2007 when they released a two-CD set that included originals (“The Poor House” was the hit) plus a funky set of covers from The Beatles to Mel Tillis. After much touring around and two more albums (Christmas Cheer in 2008 and Modbilly in 2009), the boys in the band just released another two-disc set. This one, called, Somewhere Down the Road, balances all the history of the various members (Bud ain’t the only one who hit it big, you just haven’t heard of the others) with 22 songs done in the roots-rock style they like to call Modbilly. The bottom line is that they rock out, no matter how the stars align.
