• The Springfield Classical Guitar Society, now in its seventh year of
presenting some of the world’s best classical guitarists in the capital city,
submits for your approval composer and performer Brad Richter at 8 p.m. Saturday,
Oct. 9, at the First Presbyterian Church (321 South Seventh St.). Then, in an
interesting scheduling move, the Abraham Lincoln Unitarian Universalist Congregation
(735 Woodside Rd.) hosts Andrej Mentschukof, a student of both Andres Segovia
and Julian Bream, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10. Keep ’em coming, Henry.

• Keith Urban, a star member of the cute country singers club, has just
the right amount of stubble on his face and rock in his country to be “Nashville’s
newest superstar,” as stated in his promotional copy. He was Billboard
magazine’s most played artist for 2003 and is known for the blockbuster hits,
“Somebody Like You,” “Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me,” and “Raining on Sunday.” Catch
the modern country music hullabaloo at the Peoria Civic Center (309-676-8700.

treat, when gifted songwriter and amazing performer Katrina Elam opens the show
at 8 p.m.

• Lost and Found, a local music group out to showcase their original
songs, will fill the Saturday morning downtown air with folk-tinged tunes from
9:30 to noon at the Old Capitol Farmers Market (Adams Street between Third and
Fifth streets). The combo features singer-songwriter Dennis Darling on guitar
and vocals, Donna Felton singing and playing percussion, and Charlie Brittin
(King of the Piano Tuners) fingering the four-string bass guitar. It’s called
Music at the Market and brought to you by through the good graces of M.I.C.E.

• Rich Robinson, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter of the Black Crowes,
is touring in support of his solo debut album, Paper. Backed by Gordie
Johnson (from Big Sugar) on bass and Joe Travers on drums, Robinson is rocking
out in small- to medium-sized bars across the country, including The Canopy
(708 S. Goodwin, 344-2263) in Champaign-Urbana on Friday, Oct. 8.
