With 22 show dates in 23 days, Moot Davis is on the move. Leaving his home state of New Jersey on Jan. 20, the country-crooner, singer-songwriter travels cross country playing duo dates with his guitarist Bill Corvino. Then by February, Davis hooks up with the rest of the band in Texas for a few weeks in the Lone Star State. Davis first made his music mark with two records on Little Dog Records with famed producer-guitarist Pete Anderson (Dwight Yoakam, Michelle Shocked). With guitarist Kenny Vaughan (Marty Stuart, Lucinda Williams) producing his next work, Man About Town, Moot hit his stride and garnered lots of national attention and continued comparisons to the classic country stylings of Hank Williams Sr. and Dwight Yoakam. Now with the latest Vaughan-produced disc, Goin’ in Hot, Davis moves more toward a “roadhouse rock” sound, with an emphasis on rocking electric guitars supporting the songs based on his recent relationship breakup. Complimentary critics have called his work “thinking man’s country” and that could very well best describe the music of Moot Davis.
