Based out of Chicago, Bobby Conn considers music to be a vehicle for entertainment and puts on a wild and woolly show to prove it. Along with this valuable contribution to stage antics, he backs it up with really, really good music. Accompanied by his wife, the lovely and talented Monica BouBou and an incredibly rocking band of Josh Johannpeter (drums), Jim “Dallas” Cooper (bass), Colby Starck (drums), Sledd (guitar), Karl Doerfer (guitar), Jonny Steinmeier (keyboards) and Alex “Smitty” Perkolup (bass), Conn makes a lasting, possibly tongue-in-cheek, impression. From his early days as an experimental, glam-punk rocker to more recent collaborations with artists such as musicians Colby Starck and Jim O’Rourke, plus filmmaker Usama Alshaibi and the UK punkers, The Cribs, the extraordinary showman takes it to the extreme. Hidden beneath the glitzy, thrill jockey exterior beats a heart of a hardly noticed protester, railing against the ills of modern society with the wit and will of a devoted, singing satirist at every level of his bombastic and spirited show.
