A poet and artist, Vachel Lindsay’s 131st birthday is celebrated Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an open house at the Vachel Lindsay Home at 603 S. Sixth Street. Later that same day, in a similar note, poetry and words meet art as the Women Writers Association present and read from their newest book, Mosaics 3, during the Sangamon Watercolor Society all-member opening exhibit and dessert reception. Dave Tell creates a magical atmosphere for the gala by playing the Native American-simulated flute. During the same time span, Prairie Art Alliance opens its newest exhibit, Revelations, with a reception in the H.D. Smith Gallery with music by harpist Betty Kay.
