I just bought the Obeck farm next door,

60 acres with a fair house with new roof 

and furnace and a decent barn. It cost 450  

an acre. This seems an awful price when

you compare the 92 per acre we paid for  

our farm and 90 dollars Gramp paid for

the home farm or the 60 dollars paid for  

The Hill Farm in 1929. On the other hand,  

it’s right in the center of what we own and  

can be worked with men and machinery

we now have. I got a loan from the bank  

with no money down. That amazes me. 

I must have a good reputation!
