The Springfield Police Department will join neighborhoods and community partners across Springfield on Tuesday, Aug. 4, for National Night Out, an annual nationwide event designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
National Night Out provides an opportunity for residents to meet their neighbors, connect with local police officers and first responders, and build stronger, safer communities. Springfield Police Department officers and personnel will be visiting neighborhoods and community locations throughout the evening to participate in local celebrations and spend time with residents.
Springfield Police Department encourages residents to attend an event in their neighborhood and take the opportunity to meet the officers who serve their community.

“National Night Out is a great opportunity for our officers to step outside of their traditional law enforcement role and simply spend time with the people we serve,” said Springfield Police Chief Joseph Behl. “Strong relationships between our officers and residents are an important part of building safe and connected neighborhoods.”
Residents are encouraged to stop by, introduce themselves to officers, enjoy the activities taking place in their neighborhoods, and help make National Night Out a celebration of community.
