we take our entertainment in these times
of covid where we find it – today’s activity
is hacking through a pale green gourd
tall, broad, bulgy as I am we have to hold it
with clamps it’s called opo in the philippines
in italy cucuzza it has many other names
the next challenge will be to scrape out the
seeds bake the monster see if it’s tasty with
salt and butter would feed a church supper
if it turns out inedible or all pith or woody
there are always the chickens who won’t turn
up their beaks or it could be opo fertilizer for
this nevada garden I am currently visiting
I will report on this unfinished activity later
2020 Jacqueline Jackson
