new year’s poem 2018
when granddaughter cressida
asked what to do I suggested she
draw me some cards get well soon
happy new year etc she went to
work produced two before tiring
of the task “glad about your dog”
“sorry about your cat” I’ve told
you that before I think – she didn’t
do a new years card I could use it
here but what’s to say? sorry about
tar sands sorry about dreamers
about bees or butterflies elephants
utah grabs kitty grabs money grabs
I could go on being crabby but here’s
a lesser gripe the automatic have a
nice day how about have a nice year
or a nicer one than this past year or
a phrase to startle the hearer turn
thoughts to meanings of words have
a nice six minutes even a nice fifteen
