american friends living in germany
these past thirty years visited last week
we did the lincoln circuit john was
contemplating the statued group in the
museum’s reception rotunda a welcomer
said to him do you know who they are?
of course said john it’s george washington
and his family I’m not stupid you know
to her credit the welcomer doubled with mirth
