went by its black ostrich pompadours
six horses pompadoured too ornate
harness the band with museum-loaned
trumpets how different history would
have been had he lived how we now
need lincoln-hearted people in power
to put need above greed to honor
of the people by the people for the
people how we need his compassion
when I saw the lonely coffin inside
the hearse a lump closed my throat
it was almost as if I had been there
