“the girls were chasing the boys
they wanted to put makeup on us
but our feet sang a song the boys’
feet sang a fast song the girls’
feet sang a slow song so they
didn’t catch us!” carol carol we
ache at our loss and little xavier’s
loss he growing up now without
a grandma to keep his feet singing
we without you to save his songs
without you to save the treasure
of your own songs not yet written
