As Pillsbury Mills continues to be demolished, interest remains strong in the complex that employed thousands of Springfield residents. Here’s a chance for local residents to learn more. In this event hosted by the group Moving Pillsbury Forward, curator and artist Robert Mazrim will sign souvenir copies of his new book, Pillsbury Abandoned: Art & Ruin in the Industrial Midwest, a collection of photographs of the factory and art made at the site between 2022 and 2025. A sneak-peek of Los Angeles filmmaker Matthew Konicek’s documentary, Ruined, will follow at 7:30 p.m. Konicek’s film “explores the haunting and decaying spaces of Pillsbury Mill, many of which were rarely seen by the public,” according to Moving Pillsbury Forward. Konicek also will be present. Mazrim’s book can be purchased for $26 cash or check. The event is free to attend.
