royal family quarrels amongst themselves. Men are exiled. Lovers pine. Girl
disguises herself as a man (Ganymede). Confusion and mistaken identity ensues.
Lovers are united with their proper mates. Everything works out in the end. You
don’t have to know about William Shakespeare’s plays to enjoy a comedy, such as, As You Like It. It is a mix of wit, slap-stick and twists. This one is directed by Eric
Thibodeaux-Thompson.

BULLETIN BOARD | Money management The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago holds its second annual Smart Money Week, seven days of seminars in several cities throughout Illinois to help the
public learn more about spending, saving and borrowing money wisely. In
Springfield, approximately 50 seminars will be sponsored by, and held at, local
organizations, schools, libraries, banks and businesses. Topics covered
include: budgeting, clutter, investing, home buying, running a small business,

BULLETIN BOARD | Saying goodbye This is a win-win story. For more than a year, Wade Kammin trained a lab/golden
retriever puppy named Easton, teaching him obedience skills, house manners and
behavior appropriate for public places in preparation to return him for further
training at Canine Companions for Independence, a non profit organization that
provides dogs free to individuals with disabilities. For that same time period,
customers of Kammin’s local business, Wild Birds Unlimited, where Easton hung out each day, received
happy-puppy greetings when they visited the store. The icing on the cake is
that everyone has become friends, and many have come to love Easton. Saturday,
Kammin is putting on a going-away party for Easton and a fundraiser for CCI.
The public is invited. Like any good farewell gathering, there will be
refreshments and door prizes, and there’s sure to be a mix of sadness and cheerfulness as this story turns another
chapter.

BAND SPOTLIGHT | House of Nasty Springfield’s hardest working and hardest playing hard rockers, House of Nasty, celebrate a
special career night with a hometown showcase on Friday, April 17, for Refugee
Entertainment, a record company based out of Cleveland, Ohio. The show comes
complete with all the rock concert trimmings of full sound, flashing lights and
mood-inducing fog, plus plenty of onstage action from bandmates Micky Shomidie
(bass), Andy Armstrong (lead vocals), John Scully (drums) and Troy Blasko
(guitar) as the group opens wide the door into the House of Nasty and says “Come on in.” Other big 2009 summer shows for the rocking quartet include opening for
Slaughter at the Macon County Fair, a return engagement at Rocklahoma in Pryor,
Okla., and a spot at Rock Gone Wild in Algona, Iowa. Here’s wishing the band all the best. Show ’em what you got, boys.
