Southern belles The Springfield Theatre Centre brings to life the classic tale of six southern
belles in a Louisiana beauty shop in Steel Magnolias. The story begins on the day of Shelby’s wedding and follows her as she struggles to give birth to a child despite
having type I diabetes. The women form a bond as they free Annelle, the
newcomer, from her past and support Clairee, Shelby’s mother, as she comes to terms with Shelby’s decision. Through the drama friendships are strengthened and rekindled as the
women band together to celebrate the joys of love, death and a big hairdo.

Playing country
Rising country music star Chris Knight made a name for himself writing songs for
well-known stars. Now is his time to shine as he performs with Fats Kaplin and
Kristi Rose as a part of the WUIS Bedrock 66 Live! series. The series brings
singers and songwriters to Springfield as a way to promote American music in
its purest form. It doesn’t get any more American than Chris Knight, who climbed the ladder writing for
country musicians Montgomery Gentry, Randy Travis, The Confederate Railroad and
more. The blends of traditional country with the unique sounds of pulp country
provide an all-American experience created with a guitar, fiddle and mandolin.
