Guess where IT was
last night?

At the Hoogland Center for the Arts where our star helps hold down the floor in the lobby. Last night was the reception for winners of the Prairie Art
Alliance
Images of Illinois Photography Contest, sponsored by Illinois Times.

Congratulations to everyone!

This is the entrance to the beautiful Prairie Art Alliance
Gallery at the Hoogland,
also known as H.D. Smith Gallery. How do you get it the gallery? Enter Hoogland, go up stairs, turn right and go straight ahead.

The Best of Show photograph (below, left) was on display as you walked in
the door. Several structures had
presentations of winning entries. The winning photos will be on display the rest of April.

Submissions were also shown electronically in the back lobby and front lobby
where the awards ceremony took place. Many of the photographers who won were in attendance and received a certificate from PAA Executive Director Katie Matteson.

As a camera buff myself, I shot this photo (below) after leaving the event. I think I’ll title the image, “Rainy Night on Capitol Ave., USA .” Just a glimpse into what the evening looked like outside.

Inside or outside. Start shooting. Next year’s contest is only 364 days away.

In the meantime, pick up an Illinois Times while supplies last. Along with the article, we also have a pretty cool Flicker slideshow on our website of all the winning photographs.
