You’re sure to walk away with ideas on sprucing
up your garden after attending one of the many upcoming area garden walks.

• Enjoy “Town and Country Gardens,”
10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 25, hosted by the University of Illinois
Extension Master Gardeners of Champaign County. Featured gardens include
some in the Champaign-Urbana area and to the south, near Tolono.

The gardens include a landscape that sprouted from a
corn and soybean field; the well-landscaped grounds of a “painted
lady”; several cottage gardens; water features, including a
waterfall; and a collector’s garden. Their creators are allowing the
public to view their gardens and admire their unique contributions to the
local landscape. The gardens offer something for every taste — from
large to small, elegant to country.

Tickets are $10 the day of the event, and will be
available at the Master Gardener Idea Garden located on south Lincoln
Avenue, Urbana (just south of the corner of Florida and Lincoln avenues).
For more information, call 217-333-7672.

• Fulton County gardeners open their gates for
you, and you don’t even have to peek over the fence. University of
Illinois Extension Fulton County master gardeners are hosting this
year’s Canton Garden Walk on Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 3
p.m. Master gardeners of Fulton County will be available at each garden to
help answer questions.

The walk includes five Canton gardens. Tickets are $6
and are available in Canton at the HyVee grocery store.

A variety of gardens have been selected for this
year’s walk. You’ll see mature shade trees and picturesque
ornamental trees. There are rare plants and plants that do not usually grow
in our climate. Don’t miss the many different perennials. Structures
will inspire you, including trellises, decks, a wall mural, a pool, and
many different types of garden statuary. For more information, call
309-547-3711.

Proceeds from University of Illinois Extension garden
walks help fund local master-gardener projects.
